Restaurants and cafés are springing up all over Bluewaters Dubai, and the latest to open is Sah El Nom.

The brand-new restaurant brings Damascene-Syrian flavours to the new area. The restaurant itself is bright, white and airy, with an expansive terrace for cooler weather.

Sah El Nom boasts top views of Ain Dubai and is inspired by the Syrian TV show Sah Al Nawm. The restaurant aims to help guests to “spend quality time with friends, family and loved ones” and offers up a range of traditional Syrian dishes. To encourage family-friendly dining there’s a special kids’ menu that includes a mini-portion of main course, side and salad as well as a dessert and fresh juice.

Food one the menu includes a traditional levanter lentil soup, fattoush, mezze such as baba ganoush, stuffed vine leaves and batata harra (spicy potatoes). Main courses range from traditional ouzi short ribs (slow-cooked lamb), baked pumpkin stuffed with rice, minced meat and nuts to seuberg spinach (layers of dough with mixed cheese, spinach, dill and peppers). There is also a range of grills and kebabs including zaatar lamb chops, grilled prawns and shish taouk.

For dessert there’s cardamom cake, baklava, caramlised figs, kunafa and more.

Recipes are promised to have been passed down over generations to give a “unique and contemporary twist” to Syrian cuisine.

Also on Bluewaters Dubai is Gordon Ramsay’s Hell’s Kitchen at Caesars Palace Dubai, alongside burger joint Ketchup as well as The London Project, which was Highly Commended in the Best Newcomer Fine Dining Category at the Time Out Dubai Restaurant Awards, in association with Dubai Food Festival, this year.
Open Sat-Wed noon-midnight, Thu-Fri noon-1am, Bluewaters Dubai (04 587 7096).
